SanomaWSOY group is increasing European media company which is working in 20 different countries in Europe. The group offers tasks around 17 000 people. |
SanomaWSOY´s international businesses are magazines, press distribution and educational materials, and about 50% of their net sales come from outside Finland.
SanomaWSOY was formed as a result of a combination merger on May 1, 1999, when newspaper publisher Sanoma Corporation, book publisher Werner Söderström Oyj – WSOY, magazine publisher Helsinki Media Company Oy, and investment company Oy Devarda Ab.
SanomaWSOY has operations in following countries: Norway, Poland, Sweden, Holland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, Ukraine, Russia, Bulgaria, Estonia, Belgium, Latvia and Serbia and Montenegro.
SanomaWSOY is still own by Erkko family. Minister Aatos J. Erkko is already retired and the chairman of SanomaWSOY Company is now Jaakko Rauramo.
But still the biggest shareholder of the company is Aatos J. Erkko, 23,21% of all. The other, they have 7 % or under that. The company does not have any foreign owners.
The company operates in magazines, newspapers, books, educational publishing, tv and radio, online services and press distribution.
SanomaWSOY magazines and newspapers have more than 40 million readers and TV-channels more than 2 million viewers, every day. About 8 million books published by SanomaWSOY is distributed to bookstores, and more than 100 million customers visit group's 2 000 kiosks, every year.
SanomaWSOY Group´s Chairman is Jaakko Rauramo. An It´s net sales is 2,622.3 million €. |

Alma Media was founded in 1997 when the Boards of Directors of Aamulehti Corporation and MTV Oy signed an agreement merging the two companies to form Alma Media Corporation. |
In the same time Radio Nova started operating. It owns 48 % by Alma Media.
Alma Media acquires 32.8 % of Talentum Oyj. The cable channel TVTV! and the digital CityTV channel are merged to form SubTv (www.subtv.fi ).
Since 2005 MTV Oy has been owned by Swedish Bonnier & Bonnier AB and Proventus Industrier AB. And those companies are a part of Nordic Broadcasting Company. Before that it was own by Alma Media Company. MTV Oy is one of the oldest commercial TV-companies in Europe. MTV Oy is responsible about MTV3 and SubTv channels but also digital MTV3+.
MTV3 (www.mtv3.fi ) reaches every day around 3 million viewers and SubTv reaches around 1,2 million viewer per day.
In MTV Media there are also two radio channels. Radio Nova is the only commercial radio channel which has reception all around the Finland. Nova reaches around 900 000 listeners in every day. Sävelradio reaches about 500 000 listeners pre day.
Nowadays Alma Media´s business units are many daily newspapers in Finland. |
